2010 Razzie Award Nominees - Dis(Honoring) Performances and Films from 2009

Action movies Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Land of the Lost share the dubious honor of earning the most Razzie Award nominations as chosen by Golden Raspberry Award Foundation voters.

The Transformers sequel and the big screen adaptation of the classic Saturday morning TV show each picked up seven nominations, including nods in the Worst Picture category.

Also feeling a lot of Razzie love was the second film of the Twilight series, New Moon. New Moon star Robert Pattinson picked up a nomination in the Worst Supporting Actor category, with Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner joining him as nominees in the Worst Couple category. Even potential Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock didn't emerge from 2009 unscathed. Bullock earned a Razzie nomination in the Worst Actress category for her starring role in the box office bomb, All About Steve.

Kevin Smith: 'I'm never going on Southwest again'

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Southwest Airlines apologized a second time Monday to film director Kevin Smith for pulling him off a Saturday flight because of his size.

"We're very sorry for how his night unfortunately played out," Southwest said in a written statement.

The airline said it "could have potentially handled our communication better," but defended "the determination that Mr. Smith needed more than one seat to complete his flight comfortably."

The controversy is a public relations challenge for Southwest. The airline had the lowest rate of passenger complaints among U.S. airlines last year, according to a government report issued last week.

Smith -- known for his movie character "Silent Bob" -- began posting a barrage of angry messages on the online network Twitter, where he has 1.6 million followers.

He vowed in a recording posted on his Web site to "scorch the earth" with his complaints against Southwest.

"Dude, I know I'm fat," Smith said. "That's not why I was truly thrown off that plane because I fit perfectly in the seat."

Smith said he had no trouble buckling his seat belt and lowering his armrests.

"I am not fat enough to eject off a Southwest flight," he said.

He said he suspected he may have been bumped by an airline employee who did not like his comic films, which include "Zach and Miri Make a Porno," "Clerks" and the upcoming "Cop Out."

His goal is to force Southwest to change the way it deals with overweight passengers.

Southwest said it is listening.

"We want to assure everyone that has expressed concern over the situation that we will use this experience in our customer service program when training our employees on the correct way to apply the policy," the airline said.

The "customer of size policy" implemented 25 years ago requires "passengers that cannot fit safely and comfortably in one seat to purchase an additional seat while traveling," it said.

"If a customer cannot comfortably lower the armrest and infringes on a portion of another seat, a customer seated adjacent would be very uncomfortable and a timely exit from the aircraft in the event of an emergency might be compromised if we allow a cramped, restricted seating arrangement," the airline said.

"I can buckle that seat belt and that is a hallmark for any fat person," Smith said.

Smith did purchase two seats for the flight to Burbank, but he was allowed to board an earlier flight as a standby passenger, and only one seat was available on that flight.

The extra seat is not a necessity, he said, but a luxury because "Southwest flights are cheap."

"I'm flying on the welfare airline, food-stamp airline," he said. "So I think I can indulge myself with two seats, and I can afford to do it."

Although Southwest said airline executives have personally called him to apologize, Smith insisted Monday afternoon he's not gotten a call.

Although he bought 10 tickets on the airline in just the past week, he said "I'm never going on Southwest again."

Mayer: 'I will always love Aniston'

Rocker John Mayer has confessed he'll always love ex-girlfriend Jennifer Aniston and regrets the fact he couldn't be a more mature lover for her.

The couple split in 2009 after a brief romance and Aniston is now reportedly dating Scottish actor Gerard Butler, but Mayer can't get the Friends star out of his head.

In a candid Playboy interview, the Daughters singer reveals, "I'll always be sorry that it didn't last. In some ways I wish I could be with her. But I can't change the fact that I need to be 32.

"Parts of me aren't 32. My ability to go deep with somebody is old soul. My ability to commit and be faithful is old soul. But 32 just comes roaring out of me at points when I don't see it coming... I don't want to pet dogs in the kitchen."

And he'll always have terrible memories of his split from the actress - because he felt like such a "villain" and spent the following week trying to avoid the media's interest in his love life.

He adds, "I had seen splitting up with her as akin to burning an American flag... I felt as though I'd done something wrong and was going to be punished for it.

"When the media picked up on it, it was the worst f**king week of my life... All I can remember is that I was about to lose my vision. My emotional tissue was about to tear."

He staged a showdown with reporters who had hounded him at the gym, and recalls, "I was on the verge of crying and also on the verge of punching someone."

Nicolas Cage sues ex-manager for "financial ruin"

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actor Nicolas Cage filed a $20 million lawsuit against his former business manager on Friday, accusing him of negligence and fraud that sent the "National Treasure" star "down a path toward financial ruin."

Cage claimed that his recently-fired business manager had failed to pay taxes when they were due and had placed him in speculative and risky real estate investments "resulting in (the actor) suffering catastrophic losses."

In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and first obtained by celebrity web site TMZ.com, Cage said he had now been forced to "sell major assets and investments at a significant loss" because of the actions of his business advisor and accountant over the past seven years.

The lawsuit said the advisor had also failed to alert Cage to the fact that his money was running out, and had over-extended his lines of credit with banks.

The former business manager, Samuel Levin, could not be reached for comment on Friday.

Cage, 45, is one of Hollywood's most prolific actors with more than 50 movies to his name, including an Oscar-winning role as an alcoholic in "Leaving Las Vegas" and action movies such as "Face/Off" and "Gone in Sixty Seconds".

Cage earned some $40 million last year according to Forbes.com and has six movies expected to hit theaters in the next two years.

He was recently hit with a claim for $6.6 million dollars in back income taxes, interest and penalties by U.S. authorities.

Cage said he did not realize the extent of his problems until September 2008 when he hired a new business manager. He asked for $20 million in damages, saying that his reputation has been "irreparably tarnished."

Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo, Married in a Secret Wedding

MANILA, Philippines After a year of engagement, celebrity couple Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo finally exchanged their “I dos" early Tuesday morning in a private wedding rites in a town in Batangas.

Kapuso host Suzi Entrata-Abrera said in a radio dzBB interview that Judy Ann and her boyfriend of four years tied the knot in a ceremony that started 6:30 a.m. in San Juan town in Batangas some 115 kilometers south of Manila.

“Sobrang ganda [ni Judy Ann]. Nagpalakpakan kami lahat. Naghiyawan kaming lahat. Para siyang diwata [She was so beautiful. We all broke into applause. She was like a fairy]," said Suzi, who had to skip today’s hosting job at GMA’s early morning show Unang Hirit to stand as a godmother for the couple.

Megastar Sharon Cuneta graced the aisle as the celebrity couple’s maid of honor. Also walking down the aisle was Judy Ann and Ryan’s adopted daughter, Johanna Lois or Yohan.

“Ang luha ng lola, talagang… Iyak siya ng iyak. Sobra siyang happy. Tapos si Ryan ang laki-laki ng ngiti niya [Judy Ann was in tears. She kept on crying. She was so happy. Ryan, meanwhile, wore a wide, wide smile]," Suzi said.

Only members of the couple’s families and their closest friends were invited to the white-emblazoned event. The couple’s parents attended the event, where Ryan’s brother stood as best man.

“Ginawa akong ninang kasi hinahangaan daw nila ang magandang pagsasama naming asawa [I was chosen to become a godmother because the couple apparently admired my relationship with my husband]," Suzi said, referring to her best half, Paulo Abrera.

The newly wedded couple and their guests then proceeded to a local resort for a breakfast reception. A second reception was to be held, still in Batangas, for invited guests who would be coming from Manila.

Lending their voices to the event were another celebrity couple songbird Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid, as well as singer actress Agot Isidro, who performed a song for the wedding march.

A separate report said security was tight in the area, with local authorities placing a cordon from the plaza extending to the church. Local residents flocked near the site after the couple were spotted arriving in the town last night in preparation for the big event.

South home

Earlier reports quoted renowned designer Paul Cabral as saying that Judy Ann had approached him to weave his touch on creating the actress’ wedding gown.

The couple had been keeping details of their wedding secret for the last few months, but reports started circulating and initially reported that it would be held some time in early May.

After the ceremonies, the couple promised to release photos of the wedding.

The couple had not only thought of southern Luzon as the venue for the wedding. Ryan, a native of Batangas, proudly shared in earlier interviews that they were considering purchasing a four-bedroom house south of Manila.

Rift

It was not immediately clear if Judy Ann’s longtime manager Alfie Lorenzo attended the event, but the latter had indicated he might be flying to the United States.

Judy Ann and Alfie, her talent manager for 20 years, had just gone out of a rift triggered by accusations that a certain “Atty. Agoncillo" had been “meddling" in the way how the actress' career had been handle.

Alfie also took seriously Judy Ann’s decision to exclude him in the planning stage of her wedding. - Mark Merueñas, GMANews.TV

The Boyet Fajardo Bruhaha...

Last March 13, 2009, Filipino Fashion Designer Angelino Boyet Fajardo  (his RTW labels include Substance in SM department stores, Boyet Fajardo and Initials in Landmark and Robinson's department stores.) created a scene, to the shock and horror of shoppers and employees of Duty Free Philippines alike, when a cashier politely asked for his ID after presenting his unsigned credit card. This is a standard operating procedure applicable to all stores to verify ownership of the credit card and prevent fraud.

Suddenly, the designer reportedly got furious and, at the top of his voice, started berating the cashiers and managers of Duty Free Philippines. He might have thought a celebrated person like he is, with all his accolades and fame, has gone unrecognized by the cashier. A new well-trained casual worker who is carefully doing his job. The designer further shocked bystanders by cursing the people there with words such as *toink* and p...ina, while angrily expressing surprise why the people there did not recognize him.

Store managers and officers were sought to appease the matter, explaining to him that it is all included as a standard operating procedure in credit card payment for the safety, not only for the company but also his own. Ignoring all this, he pulled out his phone and threatened to call on high positioned government officials whom he allegedly knew, like doing a power-play to make these people realize how important he is. He went on saying "Mga *toink* kayo! Hindi niyo ako kilala? Ako si Boyet Fajardo! At itong p...ina na babaeng ito (pointing to a lady officer) at ang baklang ito (pointing to the cashier) ay walang kwentang mga tao! I want them fired!!!"

His yelling and berating went on and on. He cannot calm down and as he appeared to have bloodshot eyes, like that of a drunk person and or under an influence. He threw his passport on the cashier's face and later intentionally stepped on the cashier's foot to say "Ay sorry, di ko sinasadya!" He goes on to say, that only if the cashier kneel down before him and/or allow him to freely slap the cashier's face, may he get satisfied.

The ill-fated cashier, with all the onlookers, stood down and just gave in to what he probably thought would end the matter. Crying in shame he slowly knelt down and apologized (for actually doing his job) before this self-proclaimed GOD, perhaps for fear of losing his job. No slapping was made to the cashier's face but the incident landed a harsher and reverberating sound to the faces of the lesser people of this society.

Fortunately, his inhumane acts were caught on CCTV in which a portion was featured in YouTube.

The next day as hubby and I were traversing EDSA, we saw a big billboard bearing his name. He has Aljo Bendijo and Dan Fernandez as models for his suit line… we thought the same thing… good luck with that! Hehehe…

Natasha Richardson Dies

It is a sad day for the entertainment world. Natasha Richardson, wife of Hollywood actor Liam Neeson (who recently starred in the blockbuster hit action thriller Taken) and daughter of well-respected actress Vanessa Redgrave, died after being transferred in a US Hospital from Montreal, Canada. Richardson was in Montreal with friends and family for a skiing trip when she got injured on the beginner’s slope of the ski resort. She was initially diagnosed to be in a critical condition when she incurred a massive brain injury and was taken to a nearby hospital before being transferred to a hospital nearer her home in the US.

Apparently, the injuries were too extensive, that her body succumbed after several hours.

My condolences to her family. She is survived by her husband and two kids.

Ron Silver Dies at 62

Ron Silver, a versatile actor and independent-minded political activist who played Henry Kissinger, Alan M. Dershowitz and Angelo Dundee on the screen and supported Bill Clinton, Rudolph Giuliani and George W. Bush on the stump, died at home in Manhattan on Sunday. He was 62.

The cause was esophageal cancer, which was diagnosed two years ago, his brother Mitchell said.
